The 10u Michigan Red Sox will take a more aggressive approach in 2018. Coach Jason Pitts will return to the Michigan Red Sox and take the reigns of this team for a complete season. This team will participate in 10-12 tournaments and attempt scrimmage games once per week. Following is a plan we have for our Michigan Red Sox 10u for 2018.
We encourage all players to participate in the Motor City Power Fall Baseball Program at the 10u age level if they have no other activities in the fall. The 10u Sox will have some team workouts in the fall to introduce the players to their coaches, routines, and expectations.
In the late fall, we will begin athletic training with Phil Loomis at the Michigan Red Sox Training Center. We will begin baseball specific training while incorporating Coach Loomis’ activities into our practices going once a week in November and December. January and February will include practices twice per week which will include 1-2 dome tournaments to see where the players stand and what further work has to be done. This will also include a parent coaching evening to train parents on how to help their son.
In March we will increase our practices to three times per week in preparation for our first tournament to be held in Ohio or Indiana. We expect to do two tournaments in April, three tournaments in May (taking Memorial Day off), three tournaments each in June and July (taking off the July 4th surrounding weekends).
Once our team is selected, we will have a parent meeting to discuss our tournament schedule and our plans. We will not be participating in league play but will look to add scrimmage games once per week.
