The Michigan Red Sox 10u team will be coached by 5th grade classroom elementary teacher Mark Sackett who is nationally trained at instructing baseball hands on by Doyle Baseball School in Lakeland, Florida. Coach Sackett also brings 25+ years of high school coaching experience to this team. He will be assisted by Bob Caza who is a former collegiate catcher and also involved with travel softball. Handling other assistant duties will be Jay Curtis who returns with the Sox for his second year.
This team has a few open spots and are really looking for players that are focused on being athletic and are very coachable. This team wants multiple sport players who are willing to give baseball time throughout the year and completely committed to baseball by April.
The 10u Sox will participate in the October - December Michigan Red Sox classes covering the basics of fielding, throwing, and hitting.
In January, the 10u Sox will continue participation in the reinforcement classes and will begin team practices two days a week through mid February. Starting mid February through the end of March the 10u Sox will add a third practice in per week to prepare for the outdoor season.
The 10 Sox will participate in the North Oakland Baseball Federation and will focus on playing double header league games on the some weekends and adding in some tournaments throughout the early spring. The season will be complete by the second week in July.
Membership on the 1ou Michigan Red Sox will include unlimited use of the Michigan Red Sox training center, a member of the Teamsnap communication system, discounted private and semi private lessons, and discounted camps. It also includes a uniform consisting of socks, pants, belt, three jerseys, a pullover, helmet, and backpack if necessary.
